One of the great features of a thumper is its ability to add character to your spirits. Unfortunately lots of these flavors inside the thumper are taken up by the heads of your run. These chambers allow you to add flavor back into your thumper at any time.

 

They work great for infusing extracts, syrups, purees, bits of fruit, etc. Or withhold your charge entirely until after your heads have run off. The best part is it will clamp directly to any thumper with a tri clamp access port!

ORIGIN

In September of 2021, we were working on a still for an industry colleague. While building his thumper, we accidentally drilled a hole in the wrong location. Oops! The mistake did lead to an idea though. The idea was to have a port on a thumper that would allow you to dump the main charge into your thumper, by simply opening a valve. This would allow you to run your thumper dry until you began running your hearts.

This Idea would lay dormant until late 2021, when fate would run us into the man who had already conceptualized the idea.

Thanks to Master Distiller contestant Erasmo Woods, AKA PROHIBITION 1920, the infuser would come to life!

Erasmo also had a similar idea, with a slightly different take. He wanted the ability to easily add extracts to his thumper throughout his runs. At the time none of us had really considered using extracts as a flavoring agent in a thumper, however, he was already doing it. Using small stainless shot glasses and magnets, he was able to "drop" the glasses into his thumper, and it worked extremely well. He wanted something more purpose built though. Something that would be simple and easy to use.

With his take on the idea, it was obvious that the possibilities these infusers would allow, were endless. It would allow a distiller to infuse flavors by way of extracts, essences, fruits, etc.! Anything that you could get into the infuser! It would allow you to add flavor throughout the entirety of a run. As soon as flavor begins to taper off, just add more. It could also be used like a bypass in a sense. By running your thumper dry until the heads had passed. Once gone, simply drop your charge and off you go.

In January of 2022, Erasmo Woods and Josh Hudgin (Moonshine Shua) introduced the world to the very first Infusers. The testing done by them, and ourselves proved that these were game changers. The distilling world can occasionally be slow to take to new ideas. This one however, is here to stay!
